Advising at Jacksonville State University, whether it’s academic or career-related, is done according to each student’s major/minor. A dedicated team of advisors helps students excel academically as well as make sure they are ready for the job market after graduation. The office of Academic Advising and Career Development helps students throughout their time at Jacksonville State and until after graduation.
Tutoring services at Jacksonville State University mainly aim to model high-quality, effective academic skills, provide content-specific supplemental instruction, and create a connection to the institution. Jacksonville tutors are passionate individuals who are dedicated to teaching and the learning process. Tutoring is free and available to JSU students in most core courses.
JSU competes in 17 sports and is a member of the ASUN Conference. The university’s team is called the Gamecocks. In football, the Gamecocks compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). JSU has won six team national championships and two individual national championships, all-time.
